Andrea grew up in Calgary, AB and some of my first memories were dancing and choreographing routines with her friends and planning shows for my parents and their friends.

Her love of dance and the arts lead her to a career in musical theatre, dance shows and becoming a magician’s assistant. During this time she started working in restaurants and immediately fell in love with the performance of creating and executing a magical dining experience.

She worked her way up in some of the top fine-dining restaurants, honing in on her love to create memorable moments and using her Sommelier degree to enhance an evening with the perfect wine pairing.  She eventually opened her own restaurant with her business partner and is loves that we can grow and share with guests on a daily basis.

Throughout her life, be it in business, social, family and friends, music has fueled her. “Music is life and I love that it can bring you out of a dark place or remind you of a fond memory or instantly put you in a great mood.”

“Live, Laugh, sip, taste, dance and love.”

She teaches several classes a week and as a result, she is rarely seen without lycra. Words like “organic” and “kale” and “positive energy” flow easily and authentically from her mouth.

Together with her husband Paul, they own and instruct at their four boutique fitness studios: The Ritual, Hot Yoga on 17th, Hot Yoga on Crowfoot & Spin and One Cycle. She is also a mom to 2 gorgeous teenage girls who keeps her own on her toes daily.

Jen is a cardio junkie at heart. Her passion for fitness and movement goes back to her early 20’s where she found her groove in choreographed group fitness classes and long distance running. After several half and full marathons over the years, she found herself looking for lower-impact workouts to compliment her fitness routine and discovered her love for barre and spin classes. “A lot of my training runs were often done solo, so I really enjoyed the group dynamic of these classes and having the opportunity to connect with the community and motivate each other to work harder and really push yourself”.

After maternity leave, she decided to combine her background in marketing and graphic design with her passion for fitness into a full-time career. “I love trying ALL kinds of workouts and drawing inspiration from a variety of different genres and combining them into my classes in a fun and unique way”.

“Focus on what you can do, the best you can, to the best of your ability.”

Originally from a small town in Nova Scotia, Jodie moved to Calgary in 2009 after finishing university to pursue her career in public health.

Jodie has a background in ballet and had danced competitively for almost 20 years. With her combined passion for movement and music, she began teaching spin and barre at various studios throughout the city before finding The Ritual & One Cycle.

When she is not teaching or protecting the public’s health (one dirty restaurant at a time) -  you can find her walking her dogs or checking out other studios around the city with friends!

Whatever the mood, Jodie promises to deliver some big heavy beats but most importantly, to encourage you to channel your strongest self while embracing the sweat and energy in the studio!

“Music really reflects my mood. Some days I’m listening to rap and hip hop and some days I just need a little Norah Jones”.

Judi’s introduction to movement started with preschool ballet class. From that point on, dance consumed her life for the years that followed. In her late teens, she discovered her love for choreography-based group fitness classes, as it seemed like the perfect blend of grace and athleticism. Decades later, she is still driven by the constant pursuit of aligning body, mind and spirit.

Judi’s class is a hybrid of playful dance-inspired movements and mat-based exercises to promote enhancement of alignment, strength and functional balance. No dance experience is required.

Lana’s exploration into yoga began over 10 years ago when she was looking to supplement her personal training background. She ventured out of her hometown of Calgary to enrol in her first teacher training in San Diego. She has since been passionately instructing and sharing her overflowing admiration for yoga since.

Playfulness, exploring, and adventure are a few qualities that Lana adores both on and off her mat. She loves a good challenge, a good sweat, and is obsessed with music. She is beyond grateful to guide others on their yoga journey on a daily basis.

If you don’t catch her in a class, you’ll probably find her hitting the stairs, at the gym, with her dear family or friends, or somewhere in the tropics.

Shaima is a bit exotic. Not just because she is from Egypt or because she is a world class Muay Thai competitor. Not just because she is a unique blend of professional accountant, fitness instructor and mother to a young daughter. It is because she has a flamboyant personality that has made her an inspiration to a very loyal following.

“When people come to my class I expect them to leave their issues at the door and to focus on themselves. I want the greatest version of themselves in class. I want each person to be a source of strength for those around them because they never know who they could be inspiring”.

Stephanie Shaw

Daily Ritual:
Coffee, music, sweat and then coffee again.

Favourite move:
Stephanie loves a lunge!!

Currently playing:
Stephanie loves all music, however she is an 80's girl at heart. She creates playlists with music that has a good beat and makes her feel good. Music gets her going more than coffee, so her goal is to make you feel like you just had a cup!

Stephanie discovered her love of healthy living and fitness at an early age. In particular, body awareness and alignment became a passion. Prior to receiving her AFLCA certification in group fitness, Stephanie was actively pacing and coaching marathon groups for the Running Room as well as teaching Barre classes. Stephanie earned her AFLCA designations in spin, choreography and fusion. Her passions then led her back to Pilates where she has taken the STOTT Pilates Mat and Reformer courses. She plans to continue to expand her knowledge with more Pilates certifications in the near future. Her enthusiasm and energy for fitness is what keeps her motivating others to reach their fitness goals.

Away from the studio, there’s a good chance you will find her running along one of Calgary's many pathways, mountain biking or skiing in the mountains, or attending a fitness class. She loves to cook on her downtime and has been known to indulge in a glass of wine or two. Additionally, she is blessed with two children who are active in competitive soccer, which means she unwittingly has a part-time job as their private chauffeur.

Stephanie believes that life is not a dress rehearsal, it's the live show, so she strives to make it the best show she possibly can!
